The Abbey Hotel sits right in the centre of Bath, on a fashionable promenade designed by John Wood the Elder in the Georgian era. Our location is only a few strides away from some of the city’s most iconic visitor attractions, the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey and Thermae Bath Spa. Sports fans will also be pleased to know that Bath Rugby ground can be seen from the upper floors of the hotel and, as if that isn’t enough, we are less than 5 minutes’ walk from Bath Spa station.

  • Directions

    From the M4

    At junction 18, take the A46 exit to Bath/Stroud.

    At the roundabout, take the exit onto A46 Bath. Go through 1 roundabout.

    Take the A4 slip road to Bath/Warminster/A36.

    At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto London Road West/A4.

    Around 400m beyond Morrisons, turn left at the major traffic lights onto Cleveland Place, crossing the river and continuing onto Bathwick Street. Take a right onto Sydney Place/A36. Continue to follow A36.

    Go through 1 roundabout then turn right onto North Parade Road, where the railway bridge crosses the road. You now recross the river and at the traffic lights have two choices:

    To get to the Abbey Hotel door:

    At the traffic lights, turn right and then immediately sharp left, around the traffic island. You will then come round the traffic island, which brings you to the front of the Abbey Hotel. You cannot park here, but you can drop off heavy luggage.

    To park at Manvers Street Car Park:

    At the traffic lights at the end of North Parade Road, turn left (not right) onto the A3039. The car park will be on your left just before the police station.

    By Train

    First Great Western trains run a direct service to Bath Spa station from London Paddington every half an hour at peak times during the week. The journey takes around an hour and a half. Journeys from Bristol Parkway take approximately 35 minutes and from Bristol Temple Meads around 10 minutes. Bath Spa station is five minutes walk from our hotel. Local taxis are always available.

  • Parking

    The Abbey Hotel is very centrally located on North Parade, Bath, for guests arriving at the hotel you can pull up outside to unload, please do come into reception we can provide a loading notice for your car and assist with luggage if required, loading time is up to 20 minutes.

    There are two car parks very conveniently situated close to the hotel.

    Manvers Street Car Park (BA1 1JN) is just around the corner from the hotel. The charge is £15 for 24 hours, and it’s approximately a three-minute walk away.

    We can also recommend parking in South Gate Bath Car Park (BA2 4AF). The charge here is £13.00 for 24 hours, and it’s approximately a five-minute walk from our hotel.
